What kind of game is Paragon?
Paragon is a third-person action MOBA or Multiplayer Online Battle Arena game in which a player controls a single hero on one of two teams. The objective is to destroy the opposing team's core with the assistance of your teammates and periodically spawned computer-controlled units called minions that march forward along set paths in each lane.
Player heroes have various abilities and advantages that improve over the course of a game and that contribute to a team's overall strategy.
What is gameplay like in Paragon?
In Paragon, the game starts out with players selecting their heroes to form a team of five which is called the drafting phase. After selecting heroes players load into the map. The map is divided into 3 paths called lanes which lead to the opposing team's base. These lanes are referred to often as “Left”, “Mid”, and “Right”. Players will take their heroes to a lane in an effort to dominate them from the other team. Players are not alone in this. Computer controlled characters called minions will spawn and aid in the battle.
In each of these lanes there are two towers and one inhibitor which can be destroyed. Destroying towers is an essential component to the completing the objective. Additionally, destroying towers provides benefits to your team such as increased map control or decreasing the opposing team’s minion count/spawn rate. There is also an area between the lanes called the jungle which contains special enemies that, when defeated, can provide a bonus buff to your character and additional experience.
After two towers are destroyed you reach a third structure called an inhibitor. If you destroy an inhibitor in a lane your team begins to spawn super minions in that lane giving your team a big advantage. Once an inhibitor is destroyed the opponent’s core becomes vulnerable to attack. Destroying the core will result in victory for your team.
